The Fine Art of Eating Donuts

Progress on the Donut game has been amazing over the last few weeks. Mainly due to the fact that I have stopped trying to code it myself and now just overseeing the project. Huge big thanks to Andrew Vanbeck for taking the project on.

We now also now have a kick ass level editor fully integrated with in the game that lets you make new levels and test them with in minuets. It's all pretty amazing stuff.

Donuts now bounce around the screen (in to flavours, Strawberry, plus Chocolate), Jam shooters shoot jam across the screen that explodes on impact, Antonio picks up and carries his trusty Dough Bag, the only thing that can stop these crazed out donuts. The cream blaster is just amazing to watch in action.
Tune in back next week and we'll try to upload a small video of the game in actions. Also hopefully we'll have a graphical upgrade to the project too. (Come on Ferd ;)

A Thundery Storm Passe's Us Bye.

Welcome to the Episode #1 of our Games We Never Finished Series.

It was back in 2002 or something, that I had a dream, a dream that was going to change the face of gaming for ever. That Game was 'The Amazing Adventures of Captain Thunder Storm & Smelly".

Basically it was a kick ass 3rd person shoot with sexy ladies and a side kick called Smelly based on some cool art work that Feridan Kreozot put together years earlier. The Captain would defended a group of Hot Women that where being attacked from a evil race of aliens. It was coolest thing D&K had ever done, manly because someone else programmed it (huge thanks to Luke from True Axis). We just built models for the game and came up with the amazing story line.

It was going to feature full animated cut scenes to convey our epic story arc. We even looked into hiring some voice talent to do voice work on the project, but we found out that was going to cost money and I ended up doing them my self. We pretty much story boarded the entire first cut-scene and started putting together a Pre-visualisation using the game engine (which is in the demo if your interested in checking it out, thanks to Billy for the music there). Amazing stuff!

Most of the game models where made by David Coen, who I think went off to work for IR Gururs in Melbourne (only because they offered to pay him money!). Anyways, his work rocked and we would even have gotten as far as it did with out him. So a big thanks to David for all his work.

We did the environments here and we where going for a cartoony sort of look. The think we sort of pulled it off. There a few collision data problems here and there. And a few better texture would have help.

The demo is around 8meg and can be downloaded from this link:-

Would love to get some feedback on what people think of it, or if you believe it worth our effort to finish it off some day? Or many you'd be even interested in helping us finish it off??

The Dilemma of the Donuts

This week the team has take off in a different direction and started working on something yummy, fating and very close to my heart. DONUTS!!! Way back in 1984, I saw a small ad in a Australian PC magazine for a small game called Donut Dilemma for the TRS-80. I had to have this game, it looked amazing (for it's time), and it just happened to be made by a small company up in Brisbane called FUN DIVISION. For more info on this great game, check out this link:-

Anyways, the team have decided to remake and update this game for a whole new generation of gamer and donut eaters that missed it back in the 80's. This week as been spent learning things like how to program computers, how to develop art assets and the in's and outs of eating lots of yummy donuts without throwing up. I can safely say that we have master none of them.

(New vs Old)
Can you guess which is which??

The Best Things are Yet to Come!

Well, lets hope so, as for up to now, it's all been pretty shit!!!

Work on our new project, code named 'uBot Spot' has been put on hold as the on set of depression slowly starts to set in on the development team. Taking on to much, to soon has shattered moral with in the team.

It's my goal to give the public a little taste of what they have been working on and hopefully get them motivated to finish off the title for all us hard core casual gamers.

It basically takes all the best features of Street Fighter II, Mr Potato Head and Wheres Wally into one, all in fantastically package for all ages to enjoy.

Check back for future post for a link to an upcomming demo.
